Mr. Bracken Darrell, newly appointed president of Whirlpool Europe, chose Dubai as the destination of his very first official visit. This move confirms the strategic importance of the Gulf region for Whirlpool as an expanding market with a strong demand for high-end, innovative products. Mr. Darrell confirmed the company’s commitment to invest in the region and to grow its excellent relations with local distributor Al Ghandi Electronics.
Mr. Darrell’s recent visit follows that of his predecessor, Marc Bitzer, early in 2008, when the company won a series of tenders relating to prestigious development projects, such as the Rolex Towers and Motor City.
During his visit to the offices of Al Ghandi Electronics, Mr.Darrell met with Al Ghandi Electronics’ Managing Director, Mr. Matar Al Tayer, and the Sales and Marketing team. At the meeting Mr. Darrell presented Mr. Matar Al Tayer with an award for Al Ghandi Electronics’ Outstanding Sales Performances and Business Cooperation in 2008.
Mr. Darrell’s agenda in Dubai also included a visit to Al Ghandi Electronics showroom, a visit to Sharaf DG showroom at Times Square Center – a key retail partner of Al Ghandi Electronics, a site visit at an upcoming project as well as a visit to a Whirlpool end-user’s residence.
Mr. Bracken Darrell was appointed president, Whirlpool Europe on Jan. 1, 2009. He has vast general management and marketing experience in consumer durables, including appliances and consumer packaged goods. He was recently president of Braun, a Procter and Gamble division, based in Germany and previously served as a general manager of General Electric’s major appliance business. He also held positions of increasing responsibility in Procter and Gamble, Pepsi and Arthur Andersen.
